If you’re a fan of video games, then Javier Laspiur’s CONTROLLERS is a series after your own heart. The photographer shows the evolution of the handheld controller from when he first started playing the entertainment consoles in 1983. Every composition has the same set up, giving us a basis of comparison between models.
Laspiur creates images that are reminiscent of posters. There’s a picture of the controller in the foreground with its console or games in the background. The photos are placed on a gray background with the manufacturer’s logo underneath and the year that he played it.
CONTROLLERS is a nostalgic look back at the systems we know and love. Seeing these photographs might make you want to dust off your old N64 and fire up your favorite game from when you were a kid. To view all of Laspiur’s beloved joysticks, d-pads, and triggers (he’s collected 20 years worth!), be sure to check out the rest of the series on Behance.
