In this series of unique landscapes, artist Alison Turner documents life as seen through a car window. For years, the adventurous photographer has been traveling the country in a van, along with her camera and her dog, Max. In this series, entitled Vanscapes, she ventured beyond the US to New Zealand to spend three weeks traveling the countryside.
Although all of her belongings were stolen within the first few days of her visit, Turner didn’t let that stop her. With her passport, her wallet, and her iPhone in hand, she hit the road. From mountaintops, to roaming cows and sandy shorelines, Turner framed the changing scenery through the open window of her mobile accommodations. She explains, “Instead of the common beautiful landscape image, I wanted to take photos that gave the viewer a sense of actually being there, looking out the window. All images were taken from inside of my rental camper van with my iPhone, looking out of the passenger window.”
