By now, all of us have heard about the devastation in the Philippines in the wake of Typhoon Haiyan. One of the most powerful storms to ever make landfall has claimed the lives of over 5,200 people. Singapore creative director Thomas Yang of 100copies has decided to do what he can to help. He’s created a beautifully inspiring art print for its victims. All proceeds will go to Red Cross Haiyan Relief humanitarian efforts in the Philippines. As he states, “The devastation of Typhoon Haiyan has seen homes and lives destroyed by flood waters. If each of us do our bit to contribute, we can help the people of Tacloban rise above this disaster and rebuild their lives.”
Combining his love for art and bicycling, he’s created this poster called Pedal On, Tacloban, which shows a lone figure cycling across the page while his reflection, on a large body of water, solemnly follows him. (For those of you who didn’t catch it, the reflection is actually a map of the Philippines.)
On the 100copies Facebook page, Thomas’ Filipino friend sent Thomas an uplifting message about the fundraising poster. “Hey Thomas, thank you for this. It’s actually very relevant as some of my cycling friends are sending old bikes to damaged areas because they have no means of transportation, power and gas.” Now, let’s do our part! The print is limited to 100 copies and retails for $45.
