A Small House Set Against Impressively Dramatic Landscapes

In this series, Manuel Cosentino transforms a tiny little house on a simple hill into a series of dramatically majestic landscapes. For two years, the Italian photographer documented the same location, capturing the house set against the changing light and weather throughout the years. The results, entitled Behind a Little House, are a stunning display of the magnificent wonders of nature, including the different seasons, a foggy afternoon, a storm rolling in, and a night sky filled with stars.

The large prints, currently exhibited at Klompching Gallery in Brooklyn, New York, are paired with a book filled with prints of the house set against a white sky. The interactive project invites viewers to actually draw on the pages of the book, creating new and unpredictable narratives to go along with the imagery. Consentino says, “Text, photographs and drawings provide a framework to the interpretation of the artwork until external contribution starts to add to the dialogue. The project intends to start a conversation with the public; its nature is purposefully left mutable, open to chance and to change.”

Behind a Little House is part of Klompching’s FRESH 2013, an annual summer show that will run through August 10, 2013.
