Netherlands-based photographer Ruadh DeLone is going to make you cringe with this creepy series he calls Never Grow Old. He’s blended the faces of young kids, between the ages of 2 and 9 with the faces of older people in their sixties! DeLone took shots on his Canon 50D camera and then worked in Photoshop to create these images.
“I am working with the themes of life and death and the fact we are just here for a fragment of time,” he tells us when we asked him why he took on this project. “Through the years we are getting older and time is moving fast. I wanted to find out what it would look like if I’d mix youth and old age and I also wanted to convey the message that one should always keep their childlike spirit alive even when we become old.
“The images turned out to be disturbing and haunting because one could ask one’s self the question, ‘Is this a kid or is this a man or woman of old age?’ I’m interested in finding out what this mixing effect has on viewers.
“I guess that’s what I am often looking for in photography: mixing the common and creating a strange effect.”
