Here’s a great story of how one photographer saw an amazing opportunity and took it. This past September, when nearly all the world’s leaders were in New York for a meeting of the United Nations, Platon, a staff photographer for The New Yorker, set up a tiny studio off the floor of the General Assembly. He tried to get as many of them in front of his lens as possible. Why? For this project titled Portraits of Power. Now appearing in the Dec. 7 issue of The New Yorker, Platon give us an inside look into our world leaders – both through his photographs and his commentary. You’ll hear funny and interesting short stories like how Platon thinks Ahmadinejad “giggles like a little boy” or how Israeli Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, was so concerned about his portrait that he kept saying “Platon, make me look good.” Below are just a selection of Platon’s portraits.
